Description

To remove the darkness of the night in Bengali life, once upon a time, the village people of the country relied on Hurricane, Kupi and Hazak lamps. One of the fuel components was kerosene. At that time, these were lit in rural areas at night to perform marriage-sadi jatragan, prenigan, stage plays, waj mahfil or prayers at home. Brothers and sisters used to study together in the backyard or on the balcony of the house with the hurricane burning. There were glass bottles for carrying kerosene, the hurricane’s fuel. Which was tied with a rope and hung somewhere in the kitchen. Hurricane is a lamp with two poles made of tin, glass chimney. The bottom of the pineapple-shaped glass chimney housed the oil tank made of tin. Where kerosene oil was poured. In the middle was the lace, in village Bengal it was called Paulte or Shailte. A quarter of which was immersed in the oil of the tank. And the rest was in the glass above. If lit with a candle or a fire, it would spread light. The light was dimmed with a regulator on the side of the tanker.

In the history of the village, who does not remember the memory of the hurricane on a dark night with the lights on the road. To go from here to there. At the bazaar, on the way or at that time when the husband of Pran was returning from the bazaar at night, his wife used to stand looking for a way out of the storm lantern.
