Our riverine Bangladesh is located in the main monsoon region. The major rivers of Bangladesh are almost full of the Himalayan melt water throughout the year. During the monsoon season, when the south-west monsoon winds sweep across the country and heavy rainfall occurs, the rivers tend to fill up. In some years, the level of rainfall becomes excessive and then as a result of excessive rainfall, the whole country is flooded by overflowing the two banks of the river, and when this water gradually rises above the danger level and floods the villages, towns, cities and takes a terrible shape, then we call it a flood. How many reasons are natural? First, more rainfall; Secondly, the melting water of the Himalayas flows towards the lowlands and mixes with the river water. As a result, the strong water increased and took the form of a terrible flood. According to geologists, strong earthquakes are one of the causes of floods in Bangladesh. That is, as a result of our past earthquakes, the bottom of the rivers of Bangladesh has become much higher, so their water holding capacity is low. Apart from this, the bottom of the river is going to be filled as a result of no improvement in the riverbed for many years.
