Description
Katala fish is an economically very important freshwater fish in the South Asian region. It belongs to the Cyprinidae family of the carp family. It is variously known as Katla, Katal, Indian Major Carp, Chepti, Boudhekra, Bacha, Karakatla. Katla fish is mainly found in lakes of northern India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Myanmar. The fish is usually marketed fresh and has a good market value and demand is also very good.
