Description

The Hooded Pitta, also known as Khairamatha Shumcha, is a special kind of bird not often seen around. Recently, one of these birds was seen in the Chattogram Hill Tracts, specifically in a place called Dighinala in Khagrachari. This area has lots of hills and forests, which is just the kind of place the Hooded Pitta likes to make its home for a little while. They come here to breed, and once their babies are able to fly, they pack up and move to a new place.

In the forests of Khagrachari, you might be lucky enough to see a Khaira Matha Shumcha flitting through the trees and bushes. What makes people really take notice of them, though, is their singing. These birds are not just pretty to look at; they also make beautiful music. When they come to this area, they lay their eggs, and once the chicks are hatched, they follow their mom around, learning how to fend for themselves. Sometimes, you can see them sitting on branches or exploring the grassy ground. Even though they’re young, these chicks are quite adventurous and like to check out their surroundings on their own.
